"I'll Take Politics for $1000, Alex!"
Relentless campaign ads, politicians who make promises they don't keep, legislation allowing tax breaks for a favored group of citizens that doesn't include most Americans...
"WHAT ARE THINGS THAT PISS ME OFF?"
This isn't "Jeopardy," this is politics.
"It's just politics"...a phrase I've heard and even uttered myself because it's very easy to dismiss the relevance and impact of politics. Reality check: there's no avoiding or ignoring politics. We can refuse to participate in the processes (like elections) but politics will still play a huge role in our lives whether we want to acknowledge it or not.
Love 'em or hate 'em, elections provide the opportunity for choosing people to run parts of our life. Politics influence elections, and therefore influence how we live daily. If you pay taxes, have a child in school, or simply put trash at the curb for pick-up...you've been affected by politics. Politics impact you, your family, and your neighborhood.
Informed idiot lesson #2...although it was really just further clarification on "politics."
